Hi, my name’s Sarah Finch and I’m the South and West Wales area representative for the BCGB.
I live in Ferryside, Carmarthenshire with my partner Joe, and our two britts – Berwyn (5) and Peiam (2). As well as being my much-loved pets we also compete in the show ring and in working events (gundog working tests, pointing tests, and a few field trials). They are also my working dogs, having been used on small local shoots, rough shooting snipe on the local marshes, and done some wildfowling. We also occasionally dabble in some canicross running.
I’d like to gauge interest amongst any members resident in Wales (South West – Pembrokeshire-Swansea) for a meet-up event during the Easter holiday time (roughly between the 9th and the 24th of April)
I was thinking that we could either go for a walk at a public location (possibly followed by tea and cake – either at a cafe or ‘bring a bake’), or if preferred we could rent a secure field location for a social gathering (although the latter would obviously incur a cost).
There would be no training offered initially, however if there is demand this is something that could be investigated for the future.
The types of location I was looking at included:
Pembrey Country Park (Carmarthenshire)
Llyn Llech Owain Country Park (Carmarthenshire)
Penllegare Valley Woods (Swansea)
Gnoll Country Park (Neath)
Wagswood Dog Park (Pontardawe, Swansea)
Cwtchy Canines Dog Field (Carmarthenshire)
Action Petz (Swansea and Cardiff)
If anyone is interested or has any suggestions for future events then please contact me via email – firstname.lastname@example.org
Alternatively if anyone is interested in an impromptu meet up or some peer support I am based in Ferryside, Carmarthenshire.
