THE BRITTANY CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN OPEN SHOW SUNDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2019

HELD AT YELVERTOFT VILLAGE HALL, NORTHANTS NN6 6LJ

REPORT

CLASS 1 MINOR PUPPY DOG/BITCH (1 entry)

1.Gudgin’s Jassendue Pandora B: Well proportioned 7 month old put down in excellent coat and condition. Sweet, well rounded head, kind dark eye. Good bone, neat feet, body correct for age. Well schooled and always at one with handler she gave a good performance on the move.

CLASS 2 PUPPY DOG (no entries)

CLASS 3 JUNIOR DOG (1 entry)

1.Hayes & Wilson’s Tillybirloch Otto: Presents a pleasing outline on the stand. Head well defined, intelligent and alert expression. Neck well let in. Good bone and feet. Strong topline, good depth to body. Well muscled loin and quarters. Built to move correctly – just tends to look at handler thus spoiling movement coming in.

CLASS 4 NOVICE DOG (no entries)

CLASS 5 POST GRADUATE DOG (2 entries)

1.Robinson’s Tarward Our Joe: Well balanced and firm to the touch, shown in good coat and fettle. Typical head and expression. Neck clean and strong. Chest deep with plenty of heart room. Back short and strong. Good width to thigh, gentle bend to stifle, quarters well muscled – used to advantage on the move.

2.Hayes & Wilson’s Sanbosier Nevis: A bit of a handful and perhaps some ringcraft classes would be to advantage. A well muscled dog, has good pigment, good bone and depth to body but felt the head was a little untypical with too much stop which spoilt expression. Standing would like to see a more level topline, once on the move he seemed happier.

CLASS 6 LIMIT DOG (2 entries)

Two lovely dogs here.

1.Poole’s Sanbosier Naos At Laurremar: Compact, square and very full of himself, he never stopped showing, covering his ground in typical gait. Good balance to head, expression intelligent and keen, ears well set. Strong neck well let into shoulder placement. Ribs well rounded and body deep. Loin short and firmly muscled. Hindquarters strong.

2.Cook’s Highclare Only One Avec Tailliside JW: Another quality dog,  balanced and well constructed on sound frame. Masculine head and expression. Front straight, with good bone, legs and tight feet. Chest broad, ribs well sprung. Thighs and quarters strong. A positive mover.

CLASS 7 OPEN DOG  (2 entries)

1.Anderson’s Sh Ch Rochus Moet: Square and cobby, balanced overall and presented in lovely coat and condition. Head well rounded, eyes kind yet alert, ears well placed to head. Strong in shoulder and topline. Body deep through the heart. Ribs well sprung. Strong neat loin. Strong quarters used on advantage on the move.

2.Coveney’s Sh Ch Tillybirloch Jem: Presents a pleasing and typical outline. Classic head and the “Brittany” expression. Good proportions to body and deep. Good bone, forelegs straight, feet could tighten to advantage. Sound quarters and strongly muscled overall. Has great presence and took the ring in his stride.

CLASS 8 SPECIAL OPEN ORANGE/WHITE DOG (2 entries)

1.Stevens’(handling for Mr. & Mrs. Brown) Sanbosier Niru: Well constructed and strong presented in good coat and condition. Alert, active and intelligent has well rounded head, ears of good shape and well set to head. Clean neck well let in. Body developing  but needs time to deepen and mature. Well placed front and rear assemblies he moved out and back with typical briskness.

2.Purawal’s Rochus Nico: Though a little smaller in frame to winner this dog has a good shape and is well proportioned. Head well defined,  just preferred the expression of winner today. Good bone, legs and feet. Good body with plenty of heart room. Well muscled loin and quarters. Stands parallel behind. Happy enough on the move.

CLASS 9 SPECIAL OPEN DOG ANY OTHER COLOUR EXCEPT ORANGE/WHITE (1 entry)

1.Anderson’s Rochus Noble: Noble by name, noble in his bearing. Put down in immaculate coat and condition. Standing he presents the correct size and shape, is well constructed on a sound frame. Lovely proportions to head, eyes kind yet alert, ears well set.   A powerful dog with good bone, well developed body and strong, well tuned muscles, he gave an excellent performance on the move. For me he made a complete picture. Best Dog and Best of Breed

CLASS 10 VETERAN DOG (no entries)

CLASS 11 SPECIAL WORKING DOG (1 entry)

1.Finch’s Jassendue Manet’s Medley Am Cetgueli: Nothing exaggerated here, just an honest dog, fit and willing to do a good days work in the field. Sound in wind and limb, strongly muscled in neck, front and rear quarters, body well ribbed and deep through the heart.  He took the ring in typical style. Wonderful rapport between him and his handler. Reserve Best Dog

CLASS 12 PUPPY BITCH (4 entries 1 absentee)

1.Yarrow’s Bonapartist Odile: Beautifully balanced 10 month old, full of quality with a “tidy” outline and in good fettle. Sweet in head and eye. Pigment good. Neck well let into good shoulder placement. Good bone and neat feet. Body developing well, ribs well sprung. Topline strong. Hindquarters well muscled, she covered her ground with ease. Best Puppy and Reserve Best Bitch

2.Cocking & Barnaby’s Bonapartist Odette At Ruskinite: Another lovely bitch, I see litter sister to winner possesses some similar qualities. Typical head shape, eyes expressive.  Back short and body developing well. Has good bone and legs. Sound, well muscled loin and quarters standing parallel behind. Once on the move, she took the ring in her stride.

3.Anderson’s Rochus Olive (AI)

CLASS 13 JUNIOR BITCH (no entries)

CLASS 14 NOVICE BITCH (1 entry)

1.Ryan’s Patouche Oriana: Presented in good coat and condition, has pleasing outline but a little light of body just now and will need time to fill. Feminine head, kind of eye. Good bone and legs. Front and rear assemblies worked well together to cover her ground.

CLASS 15 POST GRADUATE BITCH (1 entry l absentee)

CLASS 16 LIMIT BITCH (3 entries)

Two lovely bitches here.

1.Graham & Denwood’s Bonapartist Orchid Of Lyndfil: Firmly muscled overall, she presents a good feminine shape. Lovely balance to head and body, her expression so willing to please. Clean, strong neck sits comfortably into shoulder. Good bone, legs and neat feet. Ribs are well sprung, body deep, topline and quarters strong, she was a joy to watch moving around the ring. Best Bitch, Reserve Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex

2.Tully’s Highclare Oos The Daddy: Close up to winner in construction and condition, this lovely bitch has much to commend her.  And what a character, so lively and busy.  On the move she did herself proud and never stopped showing always at one with handler. Standing, she tends to be a little overangulated behind.

3.Ryan’s Patouche Jaimee:

CLASS 17 OPEN BITCH (3 entries 1 absentee)

1.Coveney’s Tillybirloch Mistique: Presents characteristic square outline, head well defined with that gentle yet inquisitive expression.  Good bone and legs , feet could tighten. Strong topline, body well ribbed. Loin and quarters strong and well muscled. Good brisk movement fore and aft.

2.Yarrow & Nunn’s Sh Ch Bonapartist Iryssa: Well muscled and firm to the touch, her movement true both ways. A little longer cast to winner. Beautifully chiselled head and sweet expression. Good bone, legs and tight feet. Well rounded ribcage. Front and rear assemblies well placed with  good width to thigh

CLASS 18 SPECIAL OPEN BITCH ORANGE/WHITE (3 entries 2 absentees)

1.Anderson’s Rochus Jemima: A real bundle of fun, enjoying her day standing or on the move.  Short and cobby with good depth to body. Would like to see a more feminine head and expression. Good bone and legs. Coat on the turn.

CLASS 19 SPECIAL OPEN BITCH ANY OTHER COLOUR EXCEPT ORANGE/WHITE (1 entry)

1.Gudgin’s Neuvelle Nariska At Jassendue: Needs time to come into her maturity to fill and deepen. Presently a little long on the leg and high on the hock. A little long in the muzzle but her eyes are kind and appealing. Body and quarters well muscled. Presented in lovely coat and fettle and so attentive to handler. Went well.

CLASS 20 VETERAN BITCH (3 entries)

1.Tully’s Sh Ch Highclare Flaming Nora: A busy, active nine year old, showing for all she was worth and thoroughly enjoying her day in the ring. Her attention to handler showed a kindness of expression and disposition. Overall muscle tone strong.,body compact and cobby, quarters sound. Best Veteran

2.Coveney’s Tillybirloch Guinevere: I appreciated the care that had gone into preparing this bitch for the day. I gather she had been bathed which had left her coat a little “fluffy” and her shape a little awry! However on examination,  this 8 year old is well put together and is  balanced and firm to the touch,  sweet in head and eye.  Covered her ground well.

3.Robinson’s Rochus Hazel To Tarnward:

CLASS 21 SPECIAL WORKING BITCH  (no entries)

THE BRITTANY CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN OPEN SHOW

SUNDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2019

Thank you to the Committee for the invitation to judge the Memorial Special classes, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  Great atmosphere and hospitality with some lovely dogs to judge.

AD ASTRA special yearling dog or bitch (9,2)

1st Cocking and Barnaby’s Bonapartist Odette at Ruskinite – This young puppy is very smart and typy.  Cobby with good head and expression.  Short back and a moderate bend of stifle.  Moves true and briskly, as the standard says with a short stride.  2nd Tully’s Highclare Oos the Daddy – An eye catching girl on the stack.  Another with a good head and expression, good short back and well muscled.  Needing time to see the best of her.  3rd Andersons Rochus Noble.

SANDY MASSIE SPECIAL MEMORIAL OPEN BCGB TAN DOG OR BITCH (5,1)

1st Cooks Highclare Only One Avec Tailliside JW – Litter brother to my 2nd place in previous class.  Good masculine head with clean neck, good feet and well muscled.  More settled in movement in this class.  A smart boy who is maturing on well.  2nd Poole’s Sanbosier Naos at Laurremar – This handsome boy was not very settled in the class, but couldn’t deny his quality and breed type.  Good head and expression, good cobby type and well muscled.  Moved ok. Would like to see him in an outside ring.  3rd Andersons Rochus Olive (AI)

PETER GREEN SPECIAL MEMORIAL OPEN DOG OR BITCH (6,2)

1st Yarrows Sh Ch Bonapartist Iryssa – mature 5 year old bitch.  This smart girl had a lovely head and expression, good topline which she held well on the move, moderate bend of stifle and good muscle.   A quality bitch.  2nd Andersons Sh Ch Rochus Moet – Yet another quality dog.  He was not very settled on the move.  Masculine head and lovely gentle expression, in hard fit condition, cobby type with good chest and short back.  3rd Finch’s Jassendue Manet’s Medley Am Cetgueli
